Healthcare For All

Training nursers in Bangladesh new gift!
Train a rural community nurse for one year in Rajshahi, Bangladesh

Rajshahi is a city in north-western Bangladesh, situated on the river Padma. Unemployment among young people here is high. The Church of Bangladesh has a nursing institute in Rajshahi, in the diocese of Kushtia. The nursing institute gives training to young men and women who are from Santal, Urao and Garo tribal communities.

The institute trains individuals to become nurses, thus providing them with an opportunity to pursue a career in healthcare. Qualified nurses go on to find work in clinics and hospitals, and often they are motivated to serve in rural communities, where healthcare is scarce.

Help at birth

St James’ Hospital is offering medical outreach to the people of Mantšonyane, high in the mountains of Lesotho. Due to the remoteness of local communities, St James’ offers a vital service, especially for pregnant women who are encouraged to stay at the hospital as their delivery time approaches.
