Caring for Young Lives

Chicks in ZambiaNew gift
Spring chicks - Central Zambia

Filwila is a farming community in Central Zambia. This area consists mainly of subsistence farmers with little or no education and they face many hardships. The church is setting up a poultry project at an Anglican mission school which will teach children how to care for animals and how to grow small crops using chicken manure in their gardens.  Land has been identified where the project will take place and the purchase of chicks will enable the project to start.

The income raised through the sale of chickens will pay for school fees enabling more children to attend school.  The raising of chickens will also provide an important additional food source for the community.

Furnishing nurseries in Uruguay

Furnish a nursery

The settlement community of Villa Felicidad, near Uruguay’s farming capital of Progreso, consists of families who came in search of work, but found the only jobs available were seasonal and insecure. The community struggles to gain access to public services and faces many problems, including delinquency and drug addiction.

The church is supporting this community and others like it through a range of practical projects, including building and furnishing nurseries. These have been a long-held dream of the residents of Villa Felicidad, as they believe this kind of support for children will mean fewer will later drop out of primary school.

Free school dinners in North India
One week of evening meals

The Church of North India is providing access to education and a route out of poverty for children from rural communities. The Ahmednagar boarding hostel provides food and board – a ‘home from home’ – and also covers the cost of school fees, books and uniforms. The children have the chance to learn, play and make friends. Your gift could help provide a week of evening meals for the children.
